About Lendable

Lendable is on a mission to make consumer finance amazing: faster, cheaper and friendlier.

We’re building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:

  • One of the UK’s newest unicorns with a team of >250 people

  • Among the top 10 fastest-growing tech companies in the UK

  • Profitable since 2017

  • Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs and most recently OTPP (Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan) in 2022

  • Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.9/5 across 10,000s of reviews)

So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days.

We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes. We launched our loans product in the US in 2022 with more product launches to follow this year!

Join us if you want to

  • Take ownership across a broad remit. You are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1

  • Work in small teams of exceptional people who are relentlessly resourceful to solve problems and find smarter solutions than the status quo

  • Build the best technology in-house, using new data sources, machine learning, and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting

What's the job

Lendable is embarking on a new phase of our exciting journey. We’re investing in, and significantly growing our cross-product teams. As we grow rapidly in the UK, US and beyond, we want to take advantage of the opportunities in the new world of AI, coupled with advanced Data Science modelling, shared infrastructure and high-quality, fast-moving product innovation.

We're looking for experienced engineers with in-depth knowledge and hands-on Python engineering capabilities which enable them to not only deliver elegant, idiomatic solutions but also to contribute new knowledge and experience to this area which interacts regularly with stakeholders from every part of the business.

You’ll join a team working on the cutting edge amongst our core technologies that drive Lendable’s growth. Updating our software architectures to meet the needs of what we will become in the future. A passion for learning new skills, creativity for engineering new solutions, and data-driven approaches are attributes that will help you deliver services in underwriting, financial crime, data engineering, AI/ML and more. This is a chance to bring your experience, perspective and capabilities to our design discussions, product and data-science collaborations, to help shape our approach to delivering elegant solutions as we continue to grow.

We’re proud of our history in machine learning and data science, and we’re looking for this role to support continued growth by helping productionise recent breakthroughs in AI to drive efficiencies across our operations. The tooling you develop may be integrating refined LLMs, productionising external AI services, or collaborating to make step-change improvements to our ML Ops. Your application engineering skills will be critical in realising the potential of cutting-edge technology.

We believe that software engineering is more than just code - it’s about people. We believe that the best teams are made of great people. That fundamentally great software engineering is about alignment and sharing what we know cross-functionally. We focus on continually improving our capabilities as a team and making our working environment a happy and productive place.
